Crop Protection Services (Crop Protection Division)

  • Provide crop protection services for major pests and diseases of coconut
  • Maintain an insectory for mass breeding and release of parasitoids for the control of coconut pest and weeds
  • Systemic insecticides and sex attractants (pheromones) are supplied to prevent heavy infestations of major coconut pests

  • Supply seed nuts for the National replanting Programme

Analytical and Other Services (Soils & Plant Nutrition Division)

  • Formulate differential fertilizer based on foliar analysis
  • Analytical Services to private sector clients on their requirements for estimating the quality standards of chemical and organic fertilizer samples, coir dust samples, water samples, soil and leaf samples and issue of Quality Control Certificates to exporters
  • Land suitability test for coconut cultivation, soil surveys and preparation of soil maps

Technology Transfer Services (Technology Transfer Division)

  • A novel extension approach - Persuasive Extension Programme (PEP) provides a holistic farm development-package to coconut growers aimed at increasing productivity and income of their coconut lands
  • Conducts regular training programmes on different subject areas, mainly focused on the upgrading of technical know how and management skills of coconut land owners and middle level management staff. These programmes are coupled with field demonstrations and discussions
  • Seminars and field days on current issues of the sector
  • Provide advice and information based on the needs of coconut growers and other stakeholders on productivity development
