EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR COCONUT GROWERS 2010

Coconut growers have the opportunity to familiar with new technologies on the cultivation and management of coconut lands. The Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka has arranged a series of Educational Programmes for coconut growers and management staff of coconut estates during the year 2010. This series consist of seven programmes on specific subject areas with technical presentations and field demonstrations. Complete details of seven programmes are given below. Programme No 1
Subject Areas: Replanting and underplanting of coconut, recommended planting materials, transplanting and management of young palms
Date: 21 May 2010
Venue: Isolated Seed Garden, Ambakelle, Arachchikattuwa, Pallama. (Direction will be given)
Time: 09.00 am - 5.00 pm
Fee: Rs. 500/= per participant

Programme No 2
Subject Areas: Soil and moisture conservation practices for increasing coconut production and irrigation in coconut lands
Date: 18 June 2010
Venue: Ratmalagara Estate, Medagama, Madampe (Direction will be given)
Time: 09.00 am - 5.00 pm
Fee: Rs. 500/= per participant

Programme No 3
Subject Areas: Plant nutrition of coconut, organic and inorganic fertilizer application and nutrient deficiencies.
Date: 23 July 2010

Subject Areas: Increase of productivity of coconut lands with intercrops.

Subject Areas: Rehabilitation of low yielding coconut lands, land suitability, mechanization and animal husbandry in coconut lands
